Betty Lorentz, 92, of Browerville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family November 15, 2019. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 22, 2019, 11:00 a.m., at Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville with Fr. Mitchell Bechtold officiating. Friends may call Thursday, November 21, 2019, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., at Christ the King Catholic Church and on the day of the funeral one hour prior to the service. Christian Mother’s Rosary – 4:45 and Parish Prayers – 5:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery, Browerville.
Elizabeth Louise was born March 15, 1927, on the farm in Wadena Township to Paul & Luella (Fackrell) Schmitz. After graduating high school Betty attended Staples Normal and taught country school. She then married Jerome Lorentz on May 31, 1948, in Verndale. They made their home on their farm in Ward Township for 57 years where they raised their family. Betty moved to Browerville where she lived for 10 years and in 2018, she moved to Meadow Place Assisted Living in Long Prairie where she passed away.
Betty was very committed to her faith as a member of Christ the King Church in Browerville. She always had a large garden and worked alongside her husband on the farm. She crocheted many afghans and blankets. She also worked at Todd County DAC for several years. Betty was a member of Christian Mothers and the VFW Auxiliary. She was an avid Twins fan.
Betty loved to be surrounded by her family which included her 13 children, 31 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her children: Jim (Bette) Lorentz, Theresa (Bob) Van Zee, Mary Jo (Jim) Witt, Bob (Paula) Lorentz, Tom (Terri) Lorentz, Frank Lorentz, Ken (Mary) Lorentz, Ann (Randy) Noska, Sue (Nick) Noska, Julie (Chad) Twardowski, Angie (Mark) Urman, Kathy (Mike) Lucas; brother Herb (Pat) Schmitz, sister Joan (Lee) Bates, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul & Luella; husband Jerome; son Patrick, daughter-in-law Denise, grandchildren: Katie and Ben; siblings: Jerome, Paul, Rich, Jack, Chuck and Caroline.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the Long Prairie Centra Care Hospital staff, Knute Nelson Hospice staff and a special thank you to the staff at Meadow Place Assisted Living for the loving care she received.
