Doris Goligowski

  Doris "Dorie" Goligowski, 78, of Cushing, Minnesota, died peacefully in her sleep and entered Heaven's gates on February 28, 2019 at the Central Todd County Care Center in Clarissa, MN.  Born May 23, 1940 in Gilmore City, Iowa, she is predeceased by her parents, Carol Donald "Ted" and Elsie (Shellabarger) Travis of Browerville, MN and her son, Gregory Goligowski of Cushing, MN and brother-in-law Steve Wiersgalla. She married the love of her life Edward Ervin Goligowski on June 12, 1958, and they lived together on their farm in Cushing, MN until May 24, 2018. Doris is survived by her husband of 60 years and their four daughters: Deb (Jim)Wieshalla, of Cushing, MN; Val Goligowski (Stacy Thon), of San Tan Valley, AZ; Sandy (Mike) Rausch of Cushing, MN, Kristie (Mike) Reeve, of Spanaway, WA and daughter-in-law Janet Goligowski of Sauk Rapids, MN.   She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Jim Wieshalla, Jeff Wieshalla, Kelly Johnson, John Rausch, Jenny Backowski, Max Goligowski, Gia Goligowski, Kaden Reeve and seven great-grandchildren as well as siblings; Gary (Genora) Travis, Sue Wiersgalla and her dearest friend Roxanne Japp. A loving wife, mother, friend, helpmate and homemaker, Doris was a remarkable woman who worked side by side with her husband to earn a successful living on their farm for ​40​ years. She was loyal to her friends and welcomed all into her home whether for a cup of coffee or share a meal, the door was always open. She never asked for much for herself and constantly gave of her time, energy and talents to help others. She was a contributing, respected member of the community serving on the Browerville School Board for 22 years as well as an being an active member of Christ the King Church. She will be most remembered for her love and dedication to her husband and family, for whom she cared for and sacrificed much. Though she experienced trials and heartaches in her life, she maintained her faith and strength of character through all of them. She has taught us all to live life with grace and dignity and in death she has done no differently. Though she leaves this earth to walk by our Lord's side in heaven, she will forever be with us in our hearts. We want to thank the friends, family members and caregivers who dedicated themselves to helping her to live her last days as comfortable as possible, surrounded by loving and compassionate people. The gratitude in our hearts cannot be put into words.
