Joan Vogel, (JC) 76, of White Bear Lake, passed away on July 9, 2009 at United Hospital in St. Paul. Funeral services for Joan will be held on Monday, July 13, 2009, 1 p.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples with Fr. Scott Wittkop officiating. Interment was held at St. Isidore’s Catholic Cemetery in Moran Township, Todd County.
Joan was born on March 24, 1933 in St. Paul to John & Frances (Sobota) Adamietz. She grew up in rural Staples where she attended country school through the 8th grade. After Joan completed her schooling, she worked on the family farm and as a waitress in a local restaurant. On April 15, 1952, Joan married Leo Vogel. They moved to Fairbanks, Alaska. In 1957 Joan and Leo moved back to Minnesota and built a house in Pillager. Joan attended nursing school in 1977. After her graduation, she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at several hospitals and nursing homes. Joan worked at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis for 11 years until she retired. After her retirement, Joan moved back to Moran Township until 2004, when she moved to White Bear Lake.
She was a very caring and fun loving person. She was loyal to the Catholic Church, loved country music, her bingo and going to casinos with friends and family. Joan enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and was always upbeat.
Joan is survived by her children Rebecca Lowden of White Bear Lake, Douglas (Jackie) Vogel of Motley, grandchildren: Andrea, Calvin and Michael Vogel, siblings: Mary Anne Collin, Hellen Jares and Caroline Macho.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, son Stephen on March 17, 1999, siblings: John, Steve, Tony, Frank, Barb and Angela Dennemeyer.
