Carolyn Thurston, 69, of Browerville (formerly of Eagan), passed away unexpectedly on January 10, 2012 at her residence. Funeral services for Carolyn will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012, 1:00 p.m., at The Church of St. Albert the Great in Minneapolis. Burial will be held at Fr. Snelling National Cemetery.
Carolyn was born March 2, 1942 in Minneapolis to Louis & Helen (Fick) Johnson. On October 31, 1964, she married Russell Thurston at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Minneapolis. Carolyn spent many years teaching CCD and being a Girl Scout leader. She worked at Northwestern National Life for nine years and was a volunteer with Eagan Parks & Recreation for 17 years. Carolyn loved animals, shopping for antiques, entertaining, cooking and traveled all over the world with her husband Russell. She was an active cheerleader for her four children throughout their lives.
Carolyn is survived by her husband Russell of Browerville, children: Steve (Sandy) Thurston of West St. Paul, Greg (Melanie) Thurston of Webster, MN, Anne Thurston of Rosemount, Lynn (Todd) Olson of Altoona, Wisconsin; grandchildren: Sabrina & Tanner Thurston of West St. Paul, Peter Celatka of Rosemount, Ben Olson of Altoona, Wisconsin; sister in law, Millie Johnson of Eagan; brother in law, David (Theresa) Thurston of Savage and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Paul Johnson.
