
Hazel Pierson, 94, of Clarissa passed away on July 14,2010 at the Central Todd County Care Center in Clarissa where she was a resident since August 2004. Memorial services for Hazel were held on Monday, July 19, 2010, 10:30 a.m., at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Clarissa with Pastor Melissa Ehrhardt officiating. Interment was held at Immanuel Cemetery, Clarissa.
Hazel was born on October 20, 1915 in Eagle Valley Township, Todd County, to Lewis and Ida (Olson) Larson. She was united in marriage to Arvid (Reinhold) Pierson on March 19, 1934. They farmed East of Clarissa until retirement in 1975. Hazel remained on the farm until 2001 when she moved to the Clarissa Heritage.
Hazel was a member of the Immanuel/Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Clarissa where she was active in the Ladies Aid. She was a member of the Golden Rule Club and in 2007 was honored as the one remaining Charter member of 70 years. She loved working in her garden and won many ribbons in her baking, canning and woven rugs at the County Fair. She will be especially remembered for the beautiful rugs she wove from rags and was so proud her rugs were enjoyed as far away as Italy. She was never too busy to have a game of cards and always had to have a big lunch before anyone could go home.
Hazel is survived by her two sons: John (Josephine) of Aitkin, Roger (Joyce) of Brainerd, 5 grandchildren: Bruce, Gerald (Janet), Dale (Donna), Lori (Mark), Gary (Kay); great grandchildren: Andrew, Zachary, Victoria, Heather, Sarah and several nieces and nephews.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband Reinhold, her parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister.
