Terrance “Terry” Allen Rickbeil was born on September 8, 1955, at the Thiel Hospital in Bertha MN—not the barn—but that is where he would become most comfortable over the years. He was the son of Leland and Florence (Luke) Rickbeil. Terry and his four siblings were raised on a farm east of Browerville, where everyone pitched in, helping with chores around the farm and house while making memories that would last a lifetime.
Terry graduated from Browerville High School in 1973. After graduation, Terry, along with his brother Ron, devoted his time to the Rickbeil Brothers Farm, doing what he loved most, working on the swine operation and tending to the fields. Terry was later joined by his nephew Jason and grew the farm to what it is today.
On June 19, 1982, Terry married the love of his life, Marie Grimm in her hometown of Cosmos. Together, Terry and Marie worked hard and played just as hard. They enjoyed riding dirt bikes, camping, and playing in a co-ed volleyball league. Volleyball games and their camping trips with their good friends, Curt and Jody, remained favorite traditions even after they welcomed their three sons, Darrin, Tyler, and Ryan. The boys only added to the adventure, especially camping as a family, annual trips to Wild Mountain, and golfing all over the state.
Terry believed in giving back to his community. He served on the Hartford Township Board, was involved with Pro-Ag, and served on the Zion Lutheran Church Board. Many meetings were spent "solving the world's problems," though he would be the first to admit they didn't always solve much. His laid-back personality made him a perfect fit for those conversations and leadership roles.
Those who knew Terry describe him as a quiet, kind man with a gentle demeanor and an easy smile. The only exception might have been his youngest son, who apparently knew just how to test Dad's patience or perhaps simply got caught more often than his older brothers. Above all else, Terry found his greatest joy in being Grandpa. His grandchildren brought an unmistakable smile to his face and filled his heart with happiness.
On Thursday, July 23, 2026, Terry took his last breath here on earth and was reunited in heaven with those who had gone before him. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marie; his parents, Leland and Florence Rickbeil; his brother, Ron Rickbeil; his parents-in-law, Oliver and Ardina Grimm; his sister-in-law, Tammy Grimm; his brothers-in-law, Keith Grimm and Galen (Corrine) Grimm; and his nephew, David Grimm.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his sons, Darrin (Laura) Rickbeil, Tyler (Alex) Rickbeil, and Ryan (Madison) Rickbeil; his beloved grandchildren, Xavier, Liam, Oliver, Henry, Harriet, and Piper Rickbeil; his siblings, Hollis (Pam) Rickbeil, Kevin (Ruth) Rickbeil, and Dawn (Greg) Feda; his sister-in-law, Michelle Grimm; his brother-in-law, Dale Grimm; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
