George J. Nalezny, 91, of Browerville, passed away on September 16, 2008 at the Lakewood Health System in Staples.  Funeral services for George were held on Saturday, September 20, 2008, 11 a.m., at Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville with Fr. David Maciej officiating.  Interment was held at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery in Browerville.  

 

George was born in Browerville to Joseph & Balbina (Waletzko) Nalezny.  After graduation George entered into the three CCCs (Civilian Conservation Corp) for two years.  He bartended for a short time and was drafted into the US Army on September 19, 1941.  George was honorably discharged on June 9, 1945.  He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Medal, American Defense Service Medal, and five overseas service bars.  George worked for the US Postal Service in Minneapolis for over 30 years and drove school bus for St. Louis Park.  He retired in 1973.   George married Eva Anderson on July 3, 1947 in Minneapolis.  Together they bought a lake house in 1957 on Big Lake.  George enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing 500 and cribbage with the children and grandchildren, making wood and having a bump.  George was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville, American Legion 293 and VFW Post 8391. 

 

George is survived by his wife Eva of Browerville, children Joseph Nalezny of Maple Grove, Jerome (Wendy) Nalezny of Golden Valley, Krysteen (Jack) Potts of Albert Lea, Jane (Chuck) Buhl of Browerville, brother James (Marcy) Nalezny of Blaine, grandchildren, Michael Nalezny, Christopher Nalezny, Aaron Nalezny, Chad Hummel, Brian Nalezny, Amy Hummel, Jennifer Buhl, Christopher Buhl, great grandchildren:  Kylee Jo and Mariah Hummel, Omar Dempsey and many nieces and nephews.
