Adolph Henry William Martin, 93, of Hastings (formerly of Browerville) passed away on March 6, 2010 in Hastings.  Funeral services for Adolph will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010, 11:00 a.m.,  at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Clarissa with Pastor Melissa Ehrhardt officiating.  Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Browerville.

Adolph was born June 24, 1916, in Hartford Township, Todd County to John and Bertha (Duda) Martin.  He was the youngest of nine children.  Adolph was baptized at the Evangelical Lutheran Church July 9, 1916.  He completed an eighth grade education and worked the family farm until he joined a threshing crew working mainly in Kansas and Nebraska.

Adolph married Kathryn Smith on November 21, 1957, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Clarissa where they would reside.  Farmhand jobs took the young couple to Staples, Verndale, and Litchfield.  He then worked at Larson Boat Works in Little Falls through the 1960s and 1970.  Adolph retired from Crystal Sugar in Hillsboro, North Dakota in 1981.  He enjoyed lively games of Yahtzee, cards, fishing and old-time music.  The last decade of his life was spent at Ruth Homes Care Facility in Hastings. 

Adolph is survived by his son, Bradley (special friend, Karen) of Rosemount; grandsons, Brent of St. Cloud, Michael of Rosemount, one granddaughter, Rebecca (Robby Carter) of Burnsville and newborn great granddaughter Logen Ann Carter of Burnsville, sisters in law, Shirley of Motley and Donna of Bertha, brother in law, Fred Jr. of Elk River and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Adolph is preceded in death by his parents, wife Kathryn in October 1966, three sisters and five brothers.
