
Hollis Dickinson, 79, of Clarissa, passed away on December 31, 2008, at the St. Cloud Hospital. Funeral services for Hollis were held on Saturday, January 3, 2009, 1 p.m., at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Clarissa with Pastor Melissa Ehrhardt officiating. Interment was held at Woodman Cemetery in Clarissa. Casket Bearers were his grandsons: Daniel, Darin, Justin, Wade, Tyler, Travis, Jason and Jake Dickinson. Honorary Casket Bearers were his granddaughters.
Hollis was born on July 22, 1929 in Eagle Valley Township, Todd County, Minnesota to Irven & Minnie (Bergvall) Dickinson. He attended grade school at District 88 and graduated from the Clarissa High School. Hollis was drafted into the service in 1952 and was honorably discharged. On December 29, 1951 Hollis married Mavis Anderson at Balsumlund Lutheran Church in Aldrich. Hollis farmed his entire life, first with his father, than with his brother, and then with his sons. In his later years he and Mavis wintered in Texas. Hollis loved life, enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and friends. He was an active member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Clarissa and the American Legion. Hollis was a past member of the Clarissa School Board, several Co-op boards, and an Immanuel church board member. Hollis was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Hollis is survived by his wife Mavis of Clarissa, children: Gary (Connie) Dickinson of Clarissa, Larry (Kim) Dickinson of Clarissa, Leon Dickinson of Clarissa, Linda (Bradley) Becker of Sauk Rapids, Carol (Kevin) Kadrlik of Prior Lake, David (Carla) Dickinson of Clarissa, James (Teri) Dickinson of Big Lake, Robert Dickinson of Clarissa, grandchildren: Justin & Wade Dickinson & Kali Pachan, Daniel & Darin Dickinson & Dana Clough, Lindsey Sand & Kacy Dickinson, Holly, Cori & Bailey Becker, Nola Johnson & Jessie & Jamie Kadrlik, Tara, Tyler & Travis Dickinson, Amanda, Jason & Jake Dickinson, and 5 great grandchildren, sister Vivian (Ira) Yates of Clarissa,
Hollis is preceded in death by his parents and brother Wallace.
