
Ellen was born on March 22, 1920 in Currie to Carl Frederick & Ellen Matilda (Anderson) Forsberg. She grew up on her parents’ farm with her two brothers and five sisters. Ellen attended school in Currie and graduated from the Mankato State Teachers College in February 1941.
On July 15, 1943, Ellen married Robert DeBlieck in Omaha, Nebraska. Ellen and Robert made their home in rural Currie, farming. In 1954 they moved to the Clarissa area where they farmed and raised their children. Ellen taught at local country schools and at the Clarissa Elementary School. In 1985, Ellen was chosen by her peers to represent Clarissa as Teacher of the Year. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers.
Ellen enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, flowers, reading, helping her friends and taking long walks. But most of all Ellen enjoyed her family.
Ellen is survived by her children: Ellen (Gary) Huelsnitz of Sandstone; Marcia (Dennis) Borle of Ham Lake; Charles (Michele) DeBlieck of Manchester, Iowa; Vernon (Joan) DeBlieck of Coon Rapids, Linda (Noel) VanValkenburg of Long Prairie; Laura (Mike) Rolfes of Clarissa; Elaine (Bernard) Coelho of Coon Rapids; Harold (Bernadette) DeBlieck of Osakis; Sharon (Bill) Budd of La Crescent, sisters: Eva Kromer of Currie, Elsie Lindberg of Currie, 24 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Ellen is preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert and grandson Derrick.
