Leona Brabec, 91 of Browerville died on April 27, 2010 at the Long Prairie Memorial Nursing Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, May 1, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville, burial was at the Evergreen Cemetery in Browerville.
Leona was born February 28, 1919 in Staples to Robert & Julia (Rowers) Weishalla. She was raised on the family farm in Moran Township and attended country school near her home through 8th grade. After school she worked on the farm with her family, she also worked at Skelly's & Wimpy's cafes' in Staples. Leona married John Brabec on April 22, 1946 in Sisseton S.D. and they settled on a farm in Ward Township. Together they worked on their farm and for a short time she worked at Land O Lakes in Browerville. Leona loved music and played many instruments and also played in band. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening & picking blueberries.
Leona is survived by her children, Rochelle (Ron) Shann of Long Prairie, Larry Brabec of Browerville, Marlene (Arnie) Reimer of Long Prairie, Doreen Broquist of Browerville, Don Brabec of Browerville; brother John Weishalla of Staples, sister Pauline Page of Minneapolis, eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren .
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John, daughter Sharon, grandson Joseph, 2 brothers Bob & Leo, sisters Gert, Barb, Lil, Annie, Lucille and Edith.
