Services will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, 12:00 p.m. at American Lutheran Church in Long Prairie for Mary Ann Biskey, 57, who died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 5, 2012 near her home in Burtrum, Minn.  Rev. Bill Bakewicz will officiate and a private interment will take place at a later date at Bearhead Cemetery, Bruce Township, Todd County.  

 

Friends and family may call two hours prior to the services Tuesday at the church at 215 9th Street SE, Long Prairie.

 

Mary Ann Biskey was born March 20, 1954 in Melrose, Minn to Alcuin H. and Merena “Joie” (Welle) Stroeing.  She graduated from Melrose High School in 1972.  Thirty-five years ago, on June 11, 1976, she married Gary A. Biskey at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose, Minn.  The couple made their home in north Minneapolis before moving to St. Bonifacius in 1986.  They moved to Elk River in 2003 and 2 years ago they moved north of Burtrum, Minn.  Mary Ann enjoyed quilting & crafts, playing cards, bowling, fishing, reading and spending time with her family & friends.  Mary Ann enjoyed volunteering her time with the Todd County Food Shelf, kids at the school in Swanville and at St. Francis Convent Clothing Review in Little Falls.

 

Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Gary Biskey of Burtrum; daughter Nicole (Biskey) Poppitz and granddaughter, Taylor Ann Poppitz, of Chaska, Minn; sons Jason Biskey and Matthew Biskey and Mark Walker of Sarasota, Florida; sister Lou Ann (John) Jacobson of Minneapolis; brothers Dan (Mary) Stroeing of Seattle and Quincy Stroeing of Minneapolis; mother-in-law, Lola (John) Neimeyer of Long Prairie; father-in-law Donald Biskey of Little Falls,  sister-in-law Vicki (Russ) Knowles of Menahga, Minn and many cousins.

 

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Alcuin H. (2006) and Merena “Joie” (1997) Stroeing; brother Alcuin C. Stroeing (1978); and infant sister, Mary Kay Stroeing (1947); paternal grandparents Henry and Anna (Nathe) Stroeing and maternal grandparents Anton and Apollonia (Schoenberg) Welle.
