Ruth Elizabeth Ostlund, 89 of Clarissa died on Thursday, November 1 at the Central Todd County Care Center in Clarissa.  Funeral services for Ruth were held on Saturday, November 3, 11:00 A.M. at the Iten Funeral Home in Clarissa with Rev. Denny Johnson officiating; interment was held at United Cemetery in Tioga, ND.

Ruth was born on February 11, 1918 in Fergus Falls, MN to Francis &Ruth (Nelson) Ostlund.  When Ruth was a child, her family moved to a farm near Tioga, ND where she attended public school through the 9th grade.  Ruth then went to work in retail sales until she bought and operated a bakery in Tioga.  After her father’s death, Ruth and her mother

moved to Fargo where Ruth managed a Stop-N-Go convenience store.  After several years in Fargo they moved to Ellendale, ND where Ruth worked for her brother Vernon at Ellendale Plumbing & Heating.  In the early 1980’s Ruth retired and moved to Buffalo, MN and lived there until she moved to Clarissa in 2004.  Ruth liked to embroider, make quilts and garden.

Ruth is survived by 2 sisters, Eunice (Don) Nelson of Clarissa, Genevieve Johnson of Motley, 3 brothers Franklyn Ostlund of Minot, ND, Sanfred (Donna) Ostlund of West Fargo, ND, Vernon (Helen) Ostlund of Buffalo, MN, 14 nieces & nephews, 29 grand-nieces & nephews, 1 great grand-niece and 1great grand-nephew.

She is preceded in death by her parents; bother Francis, Jr., sister Eunice and 1 niece, Marilyn.
