Richard Johnson, 88, of Browerville, passed away on October 11, 2008, at his residence. Funeral services for Richard were held on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, 12 noon, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville with Fr. David Maciej officiating.  Interment was held at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery in Browerville.

 

Richard was born on August 20, 1920, on the family farm in Browerville to Charlie & Katie (Clifford) Johnson.  He attended grade school at District 99 and built fire in the winter to keep the school warm.  Richard helped his dad on the farm and enjoyed spending time with the neighborhood boys.  When he turned 21, he bought the farm from his parents and has owned it since.  Richard married Rosie Spychala Drong on October 2, 1961.  Richard and Rosie farmed together for many years.  He enjoyed pitching horseshoe, visiting his friends, fishing and hunting, especially deer.   In his later years, Richard enjoyed reading, watching T.V., bird watching and most of all spending time with his nieces and nephews.  Richard loved the land, Holstein cattle and was a “John Deere” man by all means. 

 

Richard is survived by his wife Rosie of Browerville, nephews:  Roger Randolph, Randy Kramer, nieces:  Kari (Ward) Nelson, Krisie (Bob) McElroy, brother & sister in law, George and Geri Jagush, sister in law Lorraine Johnson & friend, Cal Drake, nieces and nephews in law, Andy & Gina Statema, and their children:  Jordan, Julia, John Statema, Michael & Michelle Jagush, and their children:  Jared & Sarah Jagush, Joe & Lynn Johnson, and their children:  Patrick & Katie Johnson, Keith & Mary Isaacson, and their children:  Jeff, Jay & Renee Isaacson.

 

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie & Katie Johnson, brothers Chris, Harry, Melvin, sister, Bertha, nephew Don Randolph, niece, Shirley Kramer, infant niece & nephew, brother in law, Pat Johnson, father & mother in law, Mike & Mary Spychala, and his dog Sam.
