Milo Alsleben, 73, of Long Prairie, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2006 at his residence. Funeral services for Milo were held on Thursday, February 9, 2006, 11 a.m., at the Iten Funeral Home in Browerville with Rev. Kevin Robson officiating. Interment was held at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Long Prairie.
Milo C. Alsleben was born February 25, 1932, near Brownton to Ferdinand William (F.W.) and Lydia (Schuft) Alsleben. In 1939 he moved with his family to a farm in rural Grey Eagle. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in January of 1953. He served in Germany and was honorably discharged December 31, 1954. He married Ruby Asmus May 21, 1955 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Long Prairie Township. He was employed by the City of Long Prairie and then together with Duane Young, bought and sold feeder pigs. He bought and sold cattle, owning and operating Sawyer Livestock out of Little Falls until his retirement. He was divorced in 1993 and shortly thereafter purchased a hobby farm in Reynolds Township where he lived until his death. Milo was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Prairie and the Long Prairie VFW and American Legion Posts. He loved spending time with his family, deer hunting up north with his son, four-wheeling, fishing, playing cards with neighbors and friends and pinochle with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Elda Alsleben in 1936 and Lorna Loges in 1976.
Survivors include his children, Sandra (Dale ) Triebenbach of Long Prairie, Wallace “Chuck” (Beth) Alsleben of Alexandria and Sharon (Sheldon) Sievert of Alexandria; sisters and brothers, Selda Benishek of Bertha, Delaine Lindberg of Clearwater, Darvin (Jeanette) Alsleben on Long Prairie, Melva (Robert) Jensen of Seattle, WA, Orrin (Rose) Alsleben of Winthrop, Larry (Bonnie) Alsleben of Grey Eagle and Paulette (Loren) Johnson of Long Prairie; foster brother, Clarence Braband of Long Prairie; 9 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
