Loretta Anderson, 76, of Alexandria, passed away on January 8, 2006, at the Knute Nelson Memorial Home in Alexandria. Funeral services for Loretta were held on Friday, January 13, 2006, 11 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Clarissa with Rev. Gary Taylor officiating. Interment was at Woodman Cemetery in Clarissa. Casket Bearers were: T.J. Schultz, Rick Anderson, Ron Gjerstad, Mark Gjerstad, Pat Lunemann and Larry Line.
Loretta (Schultz) Anderson was born on February 15, 1929 at the Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis, daughter of Albert and Myrtle Schultz. When she was six years old she moved with her family to Willmar and was baptized on March 31, 1929 at the Lutheran Church. Loretta attended school at Willmar and in 1941 the family moved to a farm in Eagle Bend. Loretta was confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Bend on May 24, 1944. She was a 1947 graduate of the Eagle Bend High School.
On June 21, 1948 Loretta married Donald R. Anderson of Clarissa. Through the years, five children were born to this union. She assisted her husband in the management of the Eagle Valley Telephone Company as a telephone operator and bookkeeper for fifteen years. Loretta then was employed by Etzell Publications “The Clarissa Independent” as an office manager and writer for twenty-one years. Loretta taught Sunday school at the United Methodist Church for many years. She often spoke of enjoying the Christmas programs which she dedicated her leadership time in.
Loretta was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #213 for over fifty six years; she was a Blandin leadership training program Alumni and was a volunteer for many of the city activities. Loretta loved to spend time with family and friends. She enjoyed the performing arts, music, writing, bowling, traveling and being at the lake and collecting clowns. She was a very caring and loving person.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald in 1999, one infant son, and one infant sister.
Loretta is survived by her four children: Randy (LaPalma) Anderson of Nevis; Peggy (Vic) Carlson of Browerville; Lori Anderson on New Port Beach, California; Jody (Theresa) Anderson of Eden Prairie, 6 grandchildren: Jennifer (Brian) Tjaden of Hawley; Jordan Anderson of Nevis; Jeremy Anderson of Shakopee; Jerene (Jason) Redfield of Moorhead; Alex and Alisha Anderson of Eden Prairie, great grandchildren include: Parker and Emily Tjaden of Hawley and Mallorie Redfield of Moorhead, brother Bill (Wanda) Schultz of Alexandria and nephew T.J. (Dawn) and boys all of Alexandria.
