Lawrence Kahlert, 88, of Browerville, passed away on November 12, 2006, at the Central Todd County Care Center in Clarissa.  Funeral Mass for Lawrence will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2006, 12 noon, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville with Fr. John Caskey officiating.  Friends may call at the Iten Funeral Home in Browerville on Tuesday, November 14th from 4-8 p.m., with the Christian Women and KC Rosary at 4:30 and Parish Prayers at 7:30 p.m.  Interment will be at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery in Browerville.  Casket Bearers were Mike Kotula, Jack Regan, Donald Halbrehder, Michael Kahlert, Tom Kahlert and Rick Laine.

Lawrence was born on October 22, 1918 in Browerville to John T. and Gertrude (Disselbret) Kahlert.  He attended St. Peter's Elementary and graduated from Browerville High School, class of 1936.  He served in the Army during WWII until January 1946.  Lawrence then returned home to join the family business.  They initially operated a potato warehouse, and then opened a chicken hatchery.  They soon added a coal delivery business, which progressed to a bulk fuel oil service.  The business moved to Main Street and added a tire sales and repair store.  Lawrence retired in 1995 and spent his time Muskie fishing, hunting, berry picking, playing cards and shooting pool.  He was a member of Christ the King Church, Knights of Columbus, VFW, American Legion, and Browerville Sportsmen's Club.

Lawrence is survived by his brother, Dick (Mary Jane) Kahlert of Browerville, nephews:  Michael (Marilyn) Kahlert, Tom Kahlert, and Donald (Amarna) Halbrehder, nieces:  Marcia (Rick) Laine, Beth (Stephen) Ross and Joan Kahlert.

Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents, John and Gertie Kahlert, and sister, Leola Halbrehder.
