LaJune Kolstad, 83, of Long Prairie, passed away on December 26, 2007 at the Long Prairie Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services for June will be held on Monday, December 31, 11:00 a.m., Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Long Prairie with Reverend Gerold Goetz officiating.  Interment will be held at Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Iona Township, Todd County.  Casket Bearers were LaJune’s grandchildren:  James Kolstad, Brad Kolstad, Rodney Kolstad, Randy Kolstad, Chad Kolstad, and Collin Claussen.  Honorary Casket Bearers were grandchildren:  Alexander Claussen, Caitlin Claussen, Spencer Kolstad, Ashley Kolstad, Robin Kolstad, Judy Zastrow, Wayne Kolstad, Karyn Klaphake, Sarah Kolstad and Dawn Kolstad.

 

LaJune was born on October 13, 1924, in Iosco Township, Waseca County, Minnesota to Martin and Freida (Miller) Mittelsteadt.  On June 15, 1943 she married Gordon Kolstad at Janesville, Minnesota.  Gordon and LaJune resided in Janesville until 1966 when they moved to Chaska.  LaJune was hired by St. John’s Lutheran School in Chaska as a cook; she worked there for 10 years.  In 1978 Gordon and LaJune moved to Long Prairie.  LaJune was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.  LaJune enjoyed watching and feeding birds, flower gardening and canning, especially pickles.  In 1994 she won the blue ribbon at the State Fair for the best pickles.  LaJune is a member of the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Long Prairie.

 

LaJune is survived by her children:  Keith (Kathleen) Kolstad of Sauk Centre, Duane Kolstad of St. Cloud, Leslie (Jean) Kolstad of Long Prairie, David (Holly) Kolstad of Mayer, Sharie Kolstad of Brooklyn Park, Kevin (Laurie) Kolstad of New Ulm, Beth (Marty) Claussen of Sauk Centre, sister Lorraine Erdman of Janesville, Minnesota, 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

 

LaJune is preceded in death by her parents, husband Gordon, infant daughter, and sister Lucille Meyer.
