Kenneth Shinabarger

Kenneth Shinabarger, age 80, of Long Prairie, died on Wednesday, July 7,
2010 at the Long Prairie CentraCare Health System.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 10:00 am at
the Iten Funeral Home in Clarissa with the Rev. Melissa Ehrhardt,
officiating.  Interment with full military honors will be at the
Minnesota Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Visitation will be held on
Monday beginning at 9:00am until the hour of services.

Kenneth Levi Shinabarger, the son of Thomas and Violet (Westerberg)
Shinabarger was born on November 16, 1929 In Long Prairie. Kenneth
served in the U.S. Army from 1947 to 1950.  He served in Fort Knox,
Kentucky, Georgia and Aleutian Islands. He received an honorable
discharge as a Corporal.  On November 18, 1950 he was united in marriage
to Genevieve Petron at St. Joseph Church in Hopkins.  Kenneth was
employed as a baker at National Tea Bakery for several years and then
employed as an Assistant Plant Manager for Strout Plastics in Lakeville.
Ken and Genevieve resided in Bloomington for 46 years. Ken retired in
1995 and in 1996 they moved to Long Prairie.

Kenneth was a member of the American Legion. His hobbies included
bowling, fishing, golfing, hunting and playing cards.  He enjoyed
spending time with his family and friends, especially  at the Briggs
Lake Cabin.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Genevieve of Long Prairie; his
children, Tom (Ginney) Shinabarger of Buffalo ,MN. LoAnn (John) Barber
of Long Prairie and Randy (Linda) Shinabarger of North Branch, MN; nine
grandchildren, RaeAnn Shinabarger, Terry (Jeremy) Kisner, Ericka (Jason)
Thurman, Shannon (Greg) Paduano, Jennifer Larsen, Jay Larsen, Alicia
Bistodeau, Bradley Mathias and Jennifer (Daniel) Bengtson; 12
great-grandchildren, Morgan and Connor Kisner, Felicia, Annessa and
Keith Daley, Brandon and Abbey Paduano, Mariah Valterra, Cassidy Parken,
Mason and Blakely Bistodeau and Isabella Bengtson; sister, Beverly
(Larry) Drevlow of Long Prairie; sister-in-law, Marilyn Shinabarger of
Beloit, WI; many nieces and nephews.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Jack Batdorf;
2 brothers, Robert Shinabarger and Neil Batdorf
