
Julia Hoelker, 84 of Browerville died on January 22, 2008, at the Long Prairie Memorial Nursing Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was held for Julia on Saturday, January 26, 2008, 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville with Fr. David Maciej officiating and the burial was in St. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Elrosa, Minnesota.
Julia was born on June 22, 1923 to John & Mary (Stang) Derichs on the family farm in Lake George Township, Stearns County, Minnesota. She attended country school there through the 8th grade. Julia worked with her family on their farm, doing field work along with house keeping duties; she also worked for neighbors as a nanny. On September 17, 1946, Julia married Anton Hoelker at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa. They lived in Lake George Township for many years working on the family farm. On November 10, 1962, Julia & Anton moved their family to a farm located 2 miles south of Browerville. Together they worked the farm until January 1, 1986 when they retired and moved into Browerville. In her later years, Julia enjoyed quilting, crocheting,
gardening, playing cards, visiting and was accomplished at baking. Julia is a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville and the Christian Mothers.
She is survived by her children; Janice (Kenneth) Roering of Elrosa, Donna Mae (Regge) Neuman, Jackson, Don (Karen) of Long Prairie, Linda Kuhn of Sauk Centre, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Robert (Jan) Derichs of Melrose, Roman (Rhea) Derichs of Watkins, 2 sisters, Rosie (Dennis) Rooney of Richmond, Dorothy (Ray) Kemper of Barnesville and 1 brother-in-law, Donald Lenarz of Elrosa.
Julia is preceded in death by her parents, husband Anton, brothers; Gilbert, Jerome, Harold and Ralph and sisters; Lorraine, Marion and Agnes.
