Wallace Johnson, 80, of Long Prairie, passed away on February 1, 2010 at the Long Prairie Memorial Nursing Home. Funeral services for Wally were held on Thursday, February 4, 2010, 11:00 a.m., at the American Lutheran Church in Long Prairie, with Pastor Bill Bakewicz officiating.  Interment was held at Maple Hill Cemetery, Eagle Bend. 

Wally was born February 16, 1929 on the family farm to Paul & Alma (Croonquist) Johnson.  At the age of five, he and his family  moved into Clarissa.  Wally attended school in Clarissa graduating in 1947.  After high school, Wally went  to work as a salesman, selling farming magazines; later he would sell hearing aids and collection service.  On October 17, 1948 Wally married Lois Lenz in Eagle Bend  and together they traveled across Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.  In 1955 they bought their first house in Mandan, North Dakota and in 1965 they moved to Clarissa and Wally sold farming magazines again.  They moved to Long Prairie in 1982 and in 1999 Wally retired.  He enjoyed sports, especially baseball.  In 1967, Wally helped get American Legion baseball going in Clarissa and in 1981 the Eagle Bend-Clarissa Flyers.  Wally enjoyed playing cards and  also loved to fish especially for northern pike.  He loved his family and spending time with his grandkids and his dog Tiger.    Wally was a member of American Lutheran Church in Long Prairie.

Wally is survived by his wife Lois of Long Prairie, children:  Brian (Karla) Johnson of Clarissa, Joanne (Stan) Hillman of Long Prairie, Mark (Sandy) Johnson of Clarissa, sisters:  Mildred Novotny of Alexandria and Marge Bain of Clarissa, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Wally is preceded in death by his parents and sister Elaine.
