John A. Lucas, 59, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2007 in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services for John will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2007, 12 noon, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville with Fr. John Caskey officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday, January 24, 2007, from 5-8 p.m., at the Iten Funeral Home in Browerville with KC/Christian Women Rosary at 5:30 and Parish Prayers at 6:00 p.m. and. Interment will be at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery in Browerville.
John was born on July 1, 1947 in Long Prairie to Eli and Pauline (Pollok) Lucas. He was raised in Browerville and attended school at St. Joseph’s Catholic School and graduated from Browerville High School Class of 1965. John married Rosann Deering at St. Isidore’s Catholic Church (Moran) on September 6, 1969. They lived in Browerville, Waconia, Alexandria, and Johnson County, Kansas since 1986. John served in the US Army. He was manager of Public Safety for Sprint having worked for them for 36 years. John’s hobbies included hunting, fishing and spending many hours on genealogy. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. John is a member of Peace Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.
John is survived by his wife of 37 years; Rosann Lucas, children Kyle & wife Amber and their children; Nathan, Kira and Emily, Kevin & wife Nicolle and their children; Taylor and Sierra, daughter, Stephanie & husband Rob Wagner, siblings; Phyllis & husband Ralph Van Kempen, Mary Lou & husband Charles Weber, Pauline (Dolly) & husband Gordon Schmidt, Eli Jr. & wife Pepper Lucas, Sylvester Lucas, Jim & wife Michelle Lucas, Dorothy & husband Rick Schindler, Walter & wife Kathy Lucas, Edwin & wife Mari Lucas, Donna & husband Tom Boyette and sister in laws Pat ad Ronnie.
John is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers: Wilfred, Clarion (Buck) ad Romain Lucas.
