Jerome Ostendorf, 83, of Long Prairie, passed away on March 20, 2007, at the Long Prairie Memorial Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, March 23, 2007, 1 p.m., at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie with Fr. Scott Wittkop officiating. Interment was at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery.
Jerome was born on July 1, 1923 in Freeport, Minnesota to Henry & Bertha (Gresser) Ostendorf. He married ElDoris Kamphenkel on September 22, 1947 in Long Prairie. Jerome farmed until 1980 on a farm West of Long Prairie. He was also employed by Central Bi Products as a truck driver. He enjoyed square dancing, playing cards and after retirement enjoyed spearing, making trips to junk auctions with friends and spending time with his grandchildren.
Jerome is survived by his wife Violet of Long Prairie, children: Cindy (Lyle) Katterhagen of Long Prairie, Larry (Roxanne) Ostendorf of Long Prairie, Jane (Reginald) Browen of Long Prairie, John Ostendorf of Long Prairie, Steve (Kristi) Ostendorf of Fargo; sisters, Cora Stenberg of Missouri, Bernette Stimson of Stillwater, Alvina Woodman of St. Paul, Bernice Hansmeyer of Cold Springs, Arlene Hall of Illinois, brother, Henry Jr. Ostendorf of Missouri and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jerome is preceded in death by his parents, first wife ElDoris in 1980, brothers Arnold and Cyril and sister Elizabeth
