Herbert Johnson, 77, of Clarissa, passed away on November 25, 2006, at the Long Prairie Memorial Hospital. Funeral services for Herbert will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2006, 2 p.m., at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Clarissa with Rev. David Peterson officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday, November 28, 2006, from 4-8 p.m., at the Iten Funeral Home in Clarissa and on the day of the service starting at 1:00 p.m., at the church. Interment will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Clarissa.
Herb was born on April 11, 1929 in Pennock, MN to Arthur and Agnes (Gunderson) Johnson. When he was a young boy, he and his family moved up to the Eagle Bend and began farming. After high school, Herb attended 1 year of agriculture school at Morris, MN then came home to work on his dad’s farm. On November 25, 1950 Herb married Amy Bedner in Eagle Bend and at the time he was working 2 farms, his and his dad’s. Herb then started driving milk truck for North Star Dairy and after a few years, he bought his own trucks and went into business for himself. Herb then married Kathleen Anderson on December 3, 1977 in Miltona, MN. Herb retired in 1991 and then worked many different jobs during his retirement. He enjoyed playing cards and in his younger days he played horseshoes and went fishing. Herb had a great knowledge of cars and loved to trade and talk about them. Herb was a very social person and will be greatly missed.
Herb is survived by his wife, Kathleen of Clarissa, daughter, Karen Jo Weibye of Minneapolis, son, Craig (Lori) Johnson of Columbia Heights, MN, daughter-in-law, Jodi Johnson of Parkers Prairie, 4 grand children, Nicole & Katie Johnson, Joseph Johnson, Jason Schneiderhan and 2 brothers Harold Johnson of Eagle Bend and Donald Johnson of Texarkana, TX.
He is preceded in by his parents and 1 son, Clinton.
