Herbert Motzko, 86, of Browerville, passed away on March 26, 2008, at the Long Prairie Memorial Nursing Home.  Funeral services for Herb will be held on Monday, March 31, 2008, 12:00 p.m., at Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville with Father David Maciej officiating.  Friends may call on Sunday, March 30, 2008, 4-7 p.m., at the Iten Funeral Home in Browerville and on the day of the service starting at 9 a.m. in the funeral home.  Interment was held at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery in Browerville.

 

Herbert was born on February 12, 1922, in Little Elk Township, Todd County, Minnesota to Vincent & Agnes (Wodarz) Motzko.  He attended school at the Little Red School House in Little Elk Township through the 8th grade.  After school Herb worked for his dad on the farm.  On September 6, 1944, Herb was drafted into the US Army and was stationed in Germany.  After coming home, Herb worked on the family farm and also worked with his brother Clarence in trucking.  Herb married Selmona Hedlund in November 1955.  Herb and Sally lived near Coal Lake until 1961 when they bought the farm in Iona Township.  Herb also worked for the highway department during the winter months plowing snow.  Herb was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, American Legion and the VFW.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming. 

 

Herb is survived by his children:  Michael Motzko of Long Prairie and Gene (Gina) Motzko of Clarissa, siblings:  Rosalind Kowalczyk, Millie Nelson, Deloris (Bob) Prybella, Loretta (Jim) Schenk and Richard (Peggy) Motzko. 

 

Herb is preceded in death by his parents, wife Sally, brothers:  Clarence, George, Raymond and Harold, sisters:  Sally Nordstrom, Lorraine Mieloch and niece, Robin Slate.
