Geraldine Sams, 85 of Staples died on Saturday February 23, 2008, at the Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples.  Funeral services for Geraldine were held on Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Staples with Pastor Roy Miles officiating, burial was at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.  Casket Bearers were Brian Sams, Mark Sams, Seth Sams, Jordan Sams, Mitchell Sams and Julia Miller.

Geraldine was born on April 20, 1922 in Green City, Missouri to Tharval & Irene (Graham) Gehrke.  She attended 1st through 12th grades of school in Green City.  On April 20, 1941, Geraldine married Lloyd Sams in Green City, Missouri.  They moved to Minnesota in 1941, where she and Lloyd owned and operated a dairy farm for over 50 years.  Geraldine was a wife, mother and home maker.  She was a very good cook and did a lot of entertaining.  She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard.  Geraldine was a charter member of the Assembly of God Church in Staples.  She taught and had leadership in the Sunday school program for many years. 

Geraldine is survived by her children Roddy (Jan) Sams of Staples, Doyall (Bonnie) Sams of Temecula, CA, Royall (Sharon) Sams of Broken Arrow, OK; 12 grandchildren,        

12 great grandchildren, brothers Edward (Reba) Gehrke of Gladstone, MO, Wendel (Martha Ann) Gehrke of Queen City, MO and many nieces & nephews.

Geraldine is preceded in death by her parents, husband Lloyd and son Dallas.
