Evelyn, Carstensen, 80, of Browerville, passed away on March 7, 2006 in Long Prairie. Funeral services for Evelyn were held on Saturday, March 11, 2006, 10:30 a.m., at Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville with Fr. John Caskey officiating. Interment was at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery in Browerville. Casket Bearers were Jeffrey Carstensen, Charles Carstensen, Kurt Carstensen, Kenneth Carstensen Jr., Jacob Carstensen, Bryan Carstensen, Eric Carstensen and Aaron Carstensen.
Evelyn was born on October 31, 1925 to Anton and Elizabeth (Goebel) Claseman in Hartford Township, Todd County, Minnesota. On June 10, 1948 she married Dean Carstensen at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Browerville. Evelyn enjoyed being a homemaker and working on the farm with Dean. She spent many years working as a cook at the Long Prairie Memorial Nursing Home and at St. John’s Hospital in Browerville. She also worked at Jordahl’s Grocery as a clerk for many years. Evelyn was a member of Christ the King Church in Browerville, Christian Mothers and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Evelyn is survived by her children: Dennis (Betty) Carstensen of Rice, MN; Wayne (Gail) Carstensen of Browerville; Ken (Rose) Carstensen of Browerville; and Roger (Chris) Carstensen of Sauk Rapids, MN; brothers: Joe (Lila) Claseman of Long Prairie, Alois (Jackie) Claseman of Duluth, Alvin Claseman of St. Paul, Wilfred (Gladys) Claseman of Minneapolis; sisters: Betty (Don) Tinker of Brooklyn Center, Jen Schrenk of Brooklyn Center, fourteen grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dean (2005), her daughter Sharon Geisenhof (1982), and brothers: Francis and Elroy Claseman and great grandson Andrew Carstensen-Boe.
