
Elaine Hager, 88, of Cushing, passed away on July 20, 2008, at the Long Prairie Memorial Nursing Home. Funeral services for Elaine were held on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, 11:00 a.m., at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Cushing with Rev. Heather Culuris officiating. Interment was held at Cushing Union Cemetery.
Elaine was born on January 31, 1923 in Cushing to Christopher & Mathilda (Dahl) Canton. She was raised on the family farm and when she was young moved with her family to Minneapolis. Elaine attended public school in Minneapolis and after finishing 11th grade, went to work at the ammunition plant in Arden Hills during World War II. Elaine married Isadore Hager on April 18, 1952 and then moved up to his farm between Browerville & Randall. After Isadore’s death Elaine began a new career as an in home health care worker. She was also active in the community with the Lions Club of Randall, the Green Thumb Program and was “Grandma” at the S.G. Knight Elementary School in Randall. She enjoyed listening to Polka music and dancing.
Elaine was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Cushing.
Elaine is survived by sons, David (Carol) Haider of Minneapolis, Darryl (Theresa) O’Donnell of Spring Lake Park, MN, brothers, Percy “Bud” Canton or Orange, California, Robert Canton of Vancouver, Washington, sisters, Margery Turner of Minneapolis, Elvera Strandmark of Richfield, 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
