Dwane “Ole” Green, 77 of Long Prairie died on November 30 at the Long Prairie Memorial Hospital. Funeral services for Dwane will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5 at the United Methodist Church in Long Prairie, with Rev. Barb Lindgren, Rev. Gary Taylor and Rev. Larry Pearson officiating. Interment was at Pleasant Mound Cemetery in Clotho.
Ole was born on May 26, 1929 to William & Anna (Winistorfer) Green on the family farm in Burleene Township, Todd County, MN. Ole attended country school at district 146 through the 8th grade and then went to work for his dad on the farm. Ole married Velma Holt on April 25 1953 in Long Prairie and soon after he was drafted in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Ft. Hood, TX with the Military Police. Ole was discharged on June 22, 1955, and came back to Burleene Township to take over the family farm. Ole retired on April 1, 1991 and sold the farm. In 2005 Ole and Velma moved into Long Prairie. Ole loved farming and his pets; he enjoyed playing music (he taught himself to play the guitar, piano and accordion) and he had his own band for 30 years. In his retirement, he collected and restored antique bicycles.
Ole is survived by his wife, Velma of Long Prairie, daughters Deb (Kevin) Blake of Long Prairie, Sue (Ron) Moller of Long Prairie and son, Steve (Barb) Green of Ramsey, sister, Ethel Fuller of Andover, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Bob and sisters, Alice Kenyon, Ellen Farr, Hazel Morrow and Wilma Sellin.
