Dorothy Seifert, 87, of Clarissa, passed away on December 25, 2007, at the Central Todd County Care Center.  Funeral services for Dorothy were held on Saturday, December 29, 2007, 1:00 p.m., at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Clarissa with Fr. David Maciej officiating.  Interment was held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Clarissa.  Casket Bearers were Tom May, David May, Kelley Seifert, Matthew Seifert, Jesse Seifert and Eric Seifert.  Cross Bearer was Marie Seifert.

 

Dorothy was born on May 10, 1920, in Freeport, Minnesota, to Frank and Lucy (Spangler) Zinniel.  She was raised in Melrose and graduated from the Melrose High School.  After graduation, Dorothy attended 2 years of teacher’s college in St. Cloud and later taught country school South of Richmond, Minnesota.  Dorothy married Leander Seifert on September 18, 1944 in Melrose at St. Boniface Catholic Church.  After their marriage Dorothy helped Leander on the farm while raising their family.  They lived in Monticello for 10 years before moving to the Browerville area in 1960.  Dorothy is a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Clarissa and the Christian Mothers.

 

Dorothy is survived by her husband Leander of Clarissa, children:  Karen (Rudy) May of Browerville, Mark (Lorise) Seifert of Eagle Bend, Ruth Flaspeter of Floral City, Florida, John (Wanda) Seifert of Browerville, Leo (Joey) Seifert of Livonia, Michigan, Andy Seifert of Clarissa, sisters:  Helen Muzzy of Flossmoor, Illinois, LaNita Anderson of Melrose, Florence Bushaw of Sauk Centre, 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

 

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, son Tom, daughter in law, Patty Seifert brother, Norbert Zinniel, sisters:  Madeline Schmidt, Alice Otto, and granddaughter Amanda Seifert.
