Donald “Pat” Marcyes, 88, of Long Prairie, passed away on November 24, 2007 at his residence.  Funeral services for Pat will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2007, 11 a.m., at American Lutheran Church in Long Prairie with Rev. Bill Bakewicz officiating.  Friends may call on Friday, November 30, 2007, 5-8 p.m., at the Iten Funeral Home in Browerville and on the day of the service starting at 10:00 a.m., at the Church.  Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Long Prairie.

Pat was born on May 10, 1919 in Long Prairie to Silas & Elsie (Pentz) Marcyes.  He was raised on the family farm attending country school through the 8th grade and then worked for his dad on the farm.  On November 23, 1940 Pat married Deloris Grindy in Sauk Centre, they farmed in Reynolds Township until 1944 when they purchased Marcyes General Store in Gutches Grove from Pat’s Dad Silas, during this time he was doing custom farm work and made many friends.  In 1948, Pat and Deloris sold the store and bought a farm in Iona Township where they farmed and continued his custom farm work.  Pat loved hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, playing cards, traveling and visiting friends.  In his younger days Pat belonged to the local Sportsman’s Club.

Pat is survived by his children:  Fern (Jerry) Haugen of Long Prairie, Alan (Connie) Marcyes of Osakis, Gloria (Marvin) Schauland of Parkers Prairie, Kathy (Chuck) Parker of Sauk Centre, Sister Helen Kapus of Little Falls, 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

Pat is preceded in death by his parents, wife Deloris, brothers:  Cedric, Les, Harland, Warren, sisters:  Bessie Petrie, Shirley Ziegleman
