Deloris Zumach, 74, of Clarissa, passed away on February 20, 2007, at the Central Todd County Care Center in Clarissa.   Funeral services for Deloris were held on Friday, February 23, 2007, 11 a.m., at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Clarissa with Pastor Chad Czischke officiating.  Interment was at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Whittemore, Iowa.  Honorary Pallbearers were:  John Thomas, Sara Thomas, Emma Pogreba, Tyler Pogreba, Austin Pogreba, Benjamin Krall and Brandon Krall.

 

Deloris was born on August 10, 1932 in Burt, Iowa, to Kenneth and Mabel (Godden) Strayer.  Deloris was married to Melvin Zumach on September 4, 1954.  Melvin passed away on July 7, 1977.  Deloris has lived in Clarissa for the last 26 years.  She worked at the Clarissa bakery for many years.  Deloris loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed her plants and flowers and especially enjoyed helping other people. 

 

Deloris is survived by her children:  Marlene Zumach of Detroit Lakes, Marla (Steve) Thomas of Spencer, Iowa, Marilyn (Jim) Pogreba of Browerville, Marcie (Jeff) Krall of Baxter, Douglas (Patti) Zumach of Fergus Falls, sister, Virginia Will of Algona, Iowa, brothers:  Donald (Inga) Strayer of Wadena, Larry (Diane) Strayer of Fort Dodge, Iowa, 7 grandchildren, 2 grand-dogs and one famous bird called “Bird”.

 

Deloris is preceded in death by her parents and husband Melvin and brother-in-law Don Will.
