David Hedlund Sr., 68, of Browerville, passed away on March 12, 2006 at the Long Prairie Memorial Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial for David was held on Friday, March 17, 2006, 11 a.m., at Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville with Fr. John Caskey officiating. Friends may call on Thursday, from 4-8 p.m., at the Iten Funeral Home in Browerville and on the day of the service starting at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment was as Christ the King Catholic Cemetery in Browerville. Casket Bearers were Alan Slate, Jessica Goblisch, Frank Slate Jr., Eugene Motzko, Mike Motzko, and Duane Saehr.
David was born in Browerville on December 27, 1937, to Edward & Mary (Pokornoski) Hedlund. He graduated from Browerville High School in 1955 and he worked at Borgert's Block Factory for several years until enlisting in the Army on August 16, 1961. After his return home, Dave started working with Nick Parteka and Tom Scharnoski. He also worked a the Liquor Store until the fall of 1969 when he started work at Land O Lakes. Dave worked there until his retirement in 1995. Dave loved his family & fishing, he enjoyed gardening, making sausage and smoking fish and jerky, his cat, Patches, feeding the birds and sharing fishing stories.
David is survived by his wife JoAnn of Browerville, children: Dave (Cindy) Hedlund Jr., of Pierz, Cindy (Marv) Rahn of Browerville, grandchildren: Jacob, Emily Hedlund, JoJo, Rachel, D.J. Otte, Jennifer, Nichole and Jeff Rahn, brother Robert (Alice) Hedlund of Boseman, Montana, and sister, Delores (Frank) Slate of West St. Paul.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Edward & Mary, sister, Sally Motzko, 2 grandsons: Robert Otte and Zachary Hedlund, niece Robin Slate.
