
Jackie Baxter, 69 of Long Prairie died on Saturday, January 28, 2012 in the St. Cloud Hospital. The funeral for Jackie will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Long Prairie. The visitation will be on Friday, February 3, 2012 from 4-8 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in Long Prairie and on the day of the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the church. A private interment will be held at a later date.
Jackie was born on the farm in Toqua Township, Big Stone County, Minnesota, May 31, 1942, to Sidney & Florence (Sims) Baxter. On April 10, 1979, he married Judith Jungers in Long Prairie. Jackie farmed for a number of years, ran freight for Emery Air Freight, worked as an auto mechanic, and retired from Jennie Os after 9 years. He had a small band for 9 years and was an entertainer at heart. Jackie enjoyed riding motor cycles and had a great sense of humor. Family was very important to him. He was a great husband, dad, grandpa and brother. Jackie is a member of the Reynolds Baptist Church.
Jackie is survived by his wife, Judy of Long Prairie; children: Lee (Susan) Baxter of Clover, South Carolina, Valery (Wayne) Wright of Two Harbors, Regan (Ruth) Baxter of Little Falls; siblings: Arlene Bengen of Farmington, Darrel (Marlene) Baxter of Lincoln, Nebraska, Orin (Darlene) Baxter of Long Prairie, Lilly (Francis Blake) Barthle of Forada, Ione (Henry) Borchert of Long Prairie, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Jackie is preceded in death by his parents; son Morgan, infant twin brothers, brothers in law, Marvin Bengen and Dennis Barthle.
