Barbara Hulke, 72, of Clarissa, passed away at the Greater Staples Hospital on March 9, 2007.  Funeral services for Barbara were held on Tuesday, March 13, 2007, 10 a.m., at the Iten Funeral Home in Browerville with Rev. Hollis Bishop officiating.  Interment was held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

 

Barbara was born on August 20, 1934, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Walter and Mae (McDeomt) Gilhuber.  On December 27, 1953 she married DeWayne “Red” Hulke in Minneapolis.

 

Barbara was the past President of James Ballentine VFW, a member of the Women’s Auxiliary and the Clarissa American Legion Auxiliary.  She enjoyed bowling, playing organ, traveling and shopping, especially from QVC.  Barbara had a good sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. 

 

Barbara is survived by her husband DeWayne “Red” of Clarissa, children:  Ellen (Joseph) Wiehle of Minneapolis, Jacquelyn (Brian) Balcer of Brooklyn Park, Todd (Laura) Hulke of Stacy, Brett (Debbie) Hulke of Brooklyn Park, brother, Richard (Faith) Gilhuber of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, sister, Jean Fritz of Phoenix, Arizona, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

 

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Joy Annette, sisters, Judy Gagliano and Patricia Bowe, brother, Walter Gilhuber.
