Augusta Uhlenkamp, 97, of Clarissa, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2006 at the Central Todd County Care Center. Funeral services for Augusta were held on Thursday, February 16, 2006, 10 a.m., at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Clarissa with Fr. John Caskey officiating. Interment was held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Casket Bearers were LeRoy Uhlenkamp Jr., Edward Uhlenkamp, Mark Uhlenkamp, Paul Uhlenkamp, Timothy Uhlenkamp, Travis Lubitz and Cross Bearer was Donna Kilby.
Augusta was born on June 8, 1908, in Stearns County, Minnesota to Henry & Caroline (Steinaman) Kruse. On June 13, 1933 she married Henry Uhlenkamp at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose. After they were married they lived in the Melrose, Sauk Centre area and later moved to North Dakota. In 1951 Augusta and Henry moved to the Bertha-Eagle Bend area and in 1966 they made their home North of Clarissa. Augusta was very busy working for Jennie O Foods in Melrose and retired at 65. She loved to garden both flowers and vegetables, pick berries, quilt and crochet. In April 2001 she entered the Central Todd County Care Center. Augusta was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, St. Teresa’s Circle and Christian Mothers.
Augusta is survived by her children: LeRoy (Eileen) Uhlenkamp of Clarissa, Mary Alice (John) Kilby of Duluth, Mary Ann (husband Herb Thompson) Haag of Duluth, sisters in law, Alfreda Kruse of Burnsville, and Catherine Uhlenkamp of Sauk Centre; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Augusta is preceded in death by her parents, husband Henry in 1991, son Anthony in 1971, and brothers: Fred, Henry, and Ben Kruse, sisters: Rose Toenyan, Elizabeth Duevel and Francis Dullinger.
